Knight/Dame Seneschal

The highest Honour of The Order, that of Knight or Dame Seneschal is bestowed exclusively on the most senior officers of The Order, who must be persons of outstanding merit and personal achievement. It is from this body that the Officers of the Order are selected and from which vacancies in the Inner Court are filled. Although not compulsory, it is probable that a candidate will have held the honour of Knight Commander for a period of not less than five years.

At his Investiture into this rank, the candidate is presented with a new Warrant, a Seneschal sword and the emblem of the Order in gold and further enamelled in red and black.

Members of the Inner Court are distinguished by their black Mantle of Rank and on occasions of formal dress, a sash is worn with the bow worn over the left hip and the emblem of the Order centrally suspended thereon.
